Obituary

Montpelier, VT Yvonne B. Lane, loving mother and devoted wife, born in New Richmond, P.Q., Canada on July 25, 1918 to Emilia and Andre Normandeau, peacefully passed away at Vermont Respite House in Williston VT. She was a 1938 graduate of St. Michael High School where she played violin in the school orchestra. After working for several State of Vermont agencies she started work in 1965 at the Vermont State Employees Credit Union in Montpelier, retiring in 1984. Following her retirement from the Credit Union she went to work part-time for the Vermont State Housing Authority retiring from there in 1985. Since coming to this country at the age of 11 until her death she resided in Montpelier. She was able to live in her home at 336 Elm Street for 57 years, a home where she and her husband Richard L. Lane, Sr., whom she married April 19, 1941 at St. Augustine Church, raised their children and it was the gathering place for her large and loving extended family. Yvonne is survived by her sole remaining sibling Rollande T. Fraser of Montpelier, and by her children Richard L. Lane, Jr. and his wife Michele of Florida, Priscilla L. Alexander of Montpelier, and Susan C. Robillard and her husband Arthur of Warner Robins, GA, grandchildren Susan Alexander Levy, MSGT David A. Alexander (USMC) both of California, Elizabeth Lane Kellogg and Stephen Lane both of Maine, and Erin Robillard Melton of Texas, thirteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, but ecpecially her niece Linda Normandeau and her husband William Doelger who gave so much of themselves to help provide her with comfort and care, and her nephew Michael McNulty who was a frequent visitor. She was pre-deceased by her husband Richard, her sisters Stella Lucas, Lauria LeMay and Rita McNulty, her brothers Marcel, Lucien, Maurice, Conrad and Joseph Edward Normandeau. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 16 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, Montpelier. There are no calling hours. The family is thankful for the loving care Yvonne received provided by Central Vermont Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre VT 05641 in particular by Debbie Bell LNA, Stephanie Davis RN and Amanda Shiverick, as well as the wonderfully supportive staff and volunteers at Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, VT 05495. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Yvonne's memory to either of these organizations.
