Yolanda V. Yenkavitch passed away on May 1, 2015 after a full and loving life of 100 years surrounded by family in the Woodridge Nursing Home, Montpelier, Vermont.
Mom was born on January 17, 1915 in Montpelier, Vermont of Francesco Vignocchi and Elena Bonazzi Vignocchi. Her childhood was spent on her parent's farm in Montpelier, Vermont, days she always spoke of with particular happiness. She graduated from Wilfred Academy of Hair and Beauty Culture in Boston, Massachusetts receiving a Certificate of Distinction at the Academy Style Show. On August 11, 1943 she married Private Joseph J. Yenkavitch, Sr. and used her hairdressing skills at the various bases in the south where he was stationed. She returned to Vermont after her husband was shipped overseas to the European Theater. When her husband returned from the service they both settled in Norwood, Massachusetts and raised their family. She spent those years working at the A&P supermarket in Norwood and then at the Roach Brothers supermarket in Westwood, Massachusetts. Throughout, her main goal was always giving entirely of herself to her family. Her greatest achievement rests here. Mom gave to her family the deepest love anyone could hope to expect. And always, everyone could expect a wonderful dose of her subtle sense of humor. She was a woman with no hate in her heart and saw all people as worthy of respect. Hers was truly a successful life.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Joseph, her adopted son, Cyril Yenkavitch, and sister, Mary Decarreau. She leaves behind her children, Joseph Yenkavitch and his wife Anne Marie, Elaina Yenkavitch, and Charles Yenkavitch and Sherry Gallison, her grandson Jason Yenkavitch and his wife Kerry, her granddaughter Michelle Noonan and her husband Adam, great grandchildren Maggie and Mae Yenkavitch and Parker and Nora Noonan, nephew Francis Decarreau, and mother of the grandchildren, Laura Yenkavitch.
We also want to thank the staff at the Woodridge Nursing Home for being so caring during her time there.
A mother's love is something that no one can explain
It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may,
For nothing can destroy it or take that love away.
