Obituary

Northfield, VT William "Mickey" J. Manning, 75, of Old Road in Northfield, died on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington. He was born in Montpelier on June 23, 1937, the son of Percy W. and Mildred (Devino) Manning. He attended Montpelier public schools and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1956. On June 22, 1960, Mickey enlisted in the United States Army where he served until his honorable discharge on June 12, 1962. For many years he worked as a store clerk for the Country Store in Montpelier and also Somer's Hardware. He was currently employed at the Aubuchon's Hardware Store in Northfield. On January 17, 1976, he married his wife, Yvonne Skoda at the Grange Hall in Montpelier. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Canadian Club. He enjoyed Bowling, Nascar, and watching sports, especially his favorite team, the Cleveland Indians. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne of Northfield; two step sons, Micheal C. Hotte of Suffolk, VA and Stuart J. Hotte of Pfafftown, NC; eight step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren; his siblings, Arthur Manning of Montpelier, Francis Manning of Middlesex, Raymond Manning of Northfield, Thomas Manning of Montpelier, Mary Kelley of Northfield, Anne Rogers of Marshfield, Elaine Isham of Moretown, Theresa Brooks of Meriden, CT. He was predeceased by a step-daughter, Wendy M. Barcomb. Calling hours will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at St. Augustine's Church. Committal prayers and Military honors will follow at the Berlin Corners Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 312 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495, or to the Central Vermont Medical Center for Diabetes care and education: CVMC, P.O. Box 547, Barre, VT 05641.
