Wayne Allen Bailey, 63, of Route 12 in Berlin, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 15, 2019 while fishing on Lake Champlain.
He was born on February 12, 1956, the son of Eric and Orilla Bailey. He attended East Montpelier Public schools and graduated from Union 32 High School in 1973.
Upon graduation Wayne worked as a granite polisher for his fathers granite business, Bilodeau and Barre. The business was later sold to Beck and Beck Granite Company, where he stayed until 1988, when he began working as a Salesman for Miles Supply Company. It was there that he developed and patented a granite polishing tool that is sold throughout the granite industry.
On May 25, 1974, he married Lisa Kelley at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Montpelier.
Wayne was a member of the Canadian Club, Masonic Temple, and the Fraternal Order of Moose. He was also a member of the Central Vermont Boat Club. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, but his true passion was fishing and music. Family gatherings often included his guitar playing and karaoke singing.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Lisa Bailey of Berlin; his daughter, Amy Chamberlin and her husband, Chris and their children, Alayna and Sydnee of Northfield, VT, and daughter, Becky Law and her husband Jason and their children, Brandon and Jade of Northfield; sisters, Ruth Farnham and her husband Dennis of East Montpelier, Eva Brown and her husband Russell of Williamstown, Rena Pearson and her husband, Ken of East Montpelier; brothers, Eric Bailey and his wife Beverly of Calais, Clay Bailey and his wife Lu Anne of Calais, Dan Bailey of East Montpelier, and Gary Bailey and his wife Bonnie of East Montpelier; Several nieces and nephews; and many more best friends and relatives that will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home.
