Montpelier, VT Virginia "Ginny" Ann Shannon, 80, of Forest Drive died on Friday, October 9, 2015 at her home. She was born in White Plains, NY on May 8, 1935, the daughter of Russell and Gladys (O'Connor) Moss. She attended St. Josephine's Grade School in Oradell, NJ and later graduated from St. Cecelia's High School in 1952. She later attended Georgetown University. On January 21, 1955, she married William Shannon at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Ossining, NY. After moving to Vermont in 1968, Ginny began working as a patient registration clerk at the Heaton Hospital and later Central Vermont Hospital. She retired in 2005 after 30 years of service. She was also the co-owner of "Our Place" in East Barre from 1982 until 1987. She was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church and the St. Vincent's de Paul Society. She was also a volunteer at the Woodridge Nursing Home. Survivors include her husband, William Shannon of Montpelier; daughters, Laureen Shannon of Calais, Therese Sanchez of Madera, CA, Michelle Lavallee of Barre Town; sons, Kevin Shannon of Barre City, Martin Shannon of Williamstown, VT, Russell Shannon of Berlin, Terence Shannon of Montpelier; grandchildren, Mark Shannon, Paul Shannon, Andrew Shannon, Joseph Carriveau, Paul Lavallee, Matthew Lavallee, Lacey Lavallee, Olivia Sanchez, and Noah Sanchez; sister, Pamela Turner of Montpelier. She was predeceased by one son, William Shannon, Jr. There will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at St. Augustine's Church. Committal prayers will be offered immediately following at the Waterbury Center Cemetery.
