Obituary

EAST MONTPELIER VT- Virginia A (Jinnie) Bragg aged 92 of Bragg Hill Rd. passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at the Central Vermont Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born on June 6, 1934 in Washington, NH, the daughter of Byron and Ethel (Mills) Watson. She attended schools in Brattleboro and graduated from Brattleboro High School in 1952. Jinnie was a homemaker. She married Robert Bragg of Waitsfield on February 14 1953. She loved art, gardening, and birds.

Jinnie volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, was a member of the Old Brick Church Club and acted as church secretary for a number of years. Jinnie was a founding member of the Barre Craft Guild and a member of the Barre Paletteers.

In 1982 Jinnie started the Maple and More Gift shop on the side porch of the farmhouse, selling locally made art and craft items, Doug and Barb’s Maple Syrup, sweet corn, tomatoes and pumpkins. The success of the side porch store led to the building of the Bragg Farm Sugar House and Gift Shop, where she continued to work into the 1990’s.

Survivors include her daughter Debra Curtis and her husband Richard Curtis of East Montpelier; Sons Robert Bragg Jr and his wife Martha Fitch of Montpelier, Douglas Bragg and his wife Barbara LeGrand-Bragg of East Montpelier, sons Richard Bragg of East Barre and Timothy Bragg of Barre VT; son Stephen Bragg and his wife Sheree Lee Bragg of Tucson, Arizona. Jinnie has 12, grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Ronald Mark Bragg and her husband Robert Bragg.

The family worked together with many caregivers to enable Jinnie to remain in her home during her later years and they are very thankful for the uplifting care she received.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Sunday June 21, 2026 at the Guare and Sons Funeral Home in Montpelier. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Monday June 22, 2026 at the Old Brick Church in East Montpelier, VT 05651. Internment will follow to the Plain-Mont Cemetery in Plainfield following the service. Funeral reception will be at the Crossroads Christian Church on Fassett Road in East Montpelier.
