Thomas L. Vivian

Montpelier, VT

Thomas L. Vivian of Montpelier, VT, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the age of 71, surrounded by the love of his family and beloved K-9 Olive Oil.

Thomas was born on February 17, 1955, in Morrisville to Perley Herman and was later adopted by Carl and Evelyn Vivian of Montpelier. He attended Montpelier Schools and graduated from MHS. There, he met his sweetheart, Sharon Prevost. They married on October 12, 1974, and had two children.

Tom later purchased Harold's Gulf Station in 1984. Several years later, he joined the team of Bob's Sunoco as a mechanic and Manager of towing. Tom was an enthusiastic duck hunter. He spent many seasons with his hunting friends at camp.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Sharon, their two children, Crystal "Pickle" Williams and Thomas L. Vivian II of West Topsham. Grandson Matthew Vivian, stepmother Nancy Herman of Johnson, and nephew Billy Vivian of Maine, niece Amy Vivian, her son Brady Vivian of North Carolina, and Laurie Herman of South Carolina.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Evelyn Vivian, and biological father Perley Herman. Tom's brother Bill Vivan and sister Diane Trombly.

Visiting hours will be at Guare and Sons Funeral Home in Montpelier, VT, on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 6-8 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine's Catholic Church on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11 am. Following the funeral mass, a burial will be held at Berlin Corners Cemetery.

Prior to his passing, Tom requested that friends and family wear camouflage of some sort at his services.
