Obituary

East Montpelier, VT Thomas Allen Haggett, 64, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at DHMC after a brief illness. He was born on July 2, 1954 in Montpelier, the son of Albert and Joyce Haggett. He graduated from U-32 High School in 1972. In his early years, Tom worked on the construction of I-89, where he blasted the ledges to lay the ground-work for the road. He also served honorably in the Vermont Army National Guard. He was a longtime employee and friend of the Perry family at Perrys Service Station in Montpelier where he serviced vehicles for over 30 years. He also worked part-time for Fisher Auto Parts and Bond Auto/ORilleys. Tom married Wendy Hunt (Decato) of Randolph who gave Tom the best gift before their divorce, his only son Chris. Later in life Tom met his best friend, soulmate and love of his life Julie Langlois whom he married on July 4, 2000 in East Montpelier. Through that marriage Tom gained two more sons, Edward and Matthew Rock. Tom enjoyed meticulously maintaining his lawn throughout the summer. His pure joy though was the time spent with his family: in the garage or at the racetrack with Chris, at home with his love Julie, in front of the TV watching Gunsmoke with the grandkids, next door with his best friend Chuck, or at Perrys. Survivors include his mother Joyce Lamountain (Woody); wife, Julie Haggett of East Montpelier; son, Chris Haggett (Carolyn) of Lyndonville; step-sons, Matthew Rock (Calley) of Barre and Edward Rock of Montpelier; grandchildren, Caitlin, Brooke, and TJ Haggett, Hayden and Taylor Rock; sisters, Alice Bussino (Butch) of Arizona and Sherry Gallison (Chuck Yenkavitch) of East Montpelier; brother John Haggett (Marsha) of Arizona; In-Laws Bob and Carol Stewart of Montpelier; special sibling-in-laws Janelle and David Gallison of Adamant; and numerous family and friends. A memorial reception will be held from 1:30-3:30 on Friday, October 5, 2018 at the VFW Post 792 in Montpelier, with a burial following at Cutler Cemetery.
