Berlin, VT Susanne (Smith) Mahoney, 73, of Berlin, VT died peacefully on March 29, 2019. Born on March 19, 1946 in Groton, MA, she was the daughter of Charles and Alice (Plamondon) Smith. Susanne began her long career in teaching by receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emmanuel College. She taught first grade at The Ambrose School in Winchester, MA for nearly 30 years and was an institution in the area. In many cases, Susanne taught two generations of families in the area and loved keeping up with all of "her" children. Susanne married David M. Mahoney on March 21, 1970, and was blessed with a loving marriage of 45 years. She is survived by their two children: Michael D. Mahoney of Los Angeles, CA and Lisa J. (Mahoney) Mancauskas of Montpelier, VT along with her husband Peter J. Mancauskas and their two children Sonya and Soren Mancauskas. A service in celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. March 31 at Guare & Sons, 30 School St. Montpelier, VT with burial services at 11:00 at Green Mount Cemetery, 250 State St., Montpelier, VT. A memorial mass will be held in her memory at a later date. The family expresses their kindest thanks to the staff at The Arbors at Shelburne, in Shelburne, VT for the love and care they provided to Susanne.
