Shirley Ann (Skirry) Champine, 76, of Shady Rill Road, Middlesex pass away Friday, October 8, 2010 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Shirley was born in Montpelier on June 30, 1934 the daughter of Joseph & Eliza (Cassavaw) Skirry. She graduated from St. Michael's High School in June of 1952 and married Walter L. Champine shortly after on November 15, 1952 at St. Augustine Church in Montpelier.
Shirley was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and also volunteered her time working at the Montpelier Food Pantry.
Shirley enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Shirley is survived by her children, Ann Krom and her husband, Steve of Kingston, NY; Joe Champine and his wife, Keri of Worcester, VT; and Dean Gallison and his wife, Tina of Middlesex, VT; five grandchildren, Nick & Jermey Krom of NY and Samantha & Sydney Champine of Worcester, VT; and Dylan Gallison of Middlesex, VT.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter on July 9, 2009 and son David on March 6, 2009, as well as her siblings, Truman, Joseph, Gary and Justin Skirry and Isabelle Senecal.
Calling hours will be held Monday, October 11th from 6-8 p.m. at Guare & Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street, Montpelier, VT. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 16 Barre Street, Montpelier. A memorial reception will follow the Mass in the parish hall. Burial will be in the family lot in Middlesex Center Cemetery.
