Obituary

Berlin, VT Sandra J. Newcity, 71, of Dog River road died unexpectedly and after a brief illness on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT. Sandy was born on June 30, 1948, in Northfield, VT, the daughter Chester and Luna Gushea. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1966. In 1967, Sandy married Robert Newcity at St. Augustines Church in Montpelier. Together they had a son, Corey. Sandy was a stay at home mom and cherished the relationship she had with him. Sadly, Corey died in 1996. Most recently, Sandy worked for Black Bear Wood Products in Northfield until their closing in 2017. Sandy will be fondly remembered by the Montpelier Police Department for her Christmas baking. She would make her deliveries on Christmas Eve to each shift throughout the night. Survivors include her husband, Robert Newcity of Berlin, VT, many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. Calling hours will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 am on Friday, September 6, 2019 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Committal prayers will be offered at the Berlin Corners Cemetery following the mass.
