East Montpelier, VT

(Sandra) Joyce Jacek, 82, of East Montpelier passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at the Central Vermont Medical Center. Her husband, Fred was at her side along with dear friends Joe and Ellen Smollen.

Joyce was born on September 15, 1942 in New Haven, CT to parents, Albina (Stanic) and Albert Pilvelis. She attended schools is Montville, CT and graduated from Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT in 1960. Joyce then attended and graduated from Lyndon Teachers College in 1964. She began teaching the 4th grade at Union Elementary School in Montpelier, VT in 1964 and remained there until her retirement in 1994.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 58 years and close cousins, Tom and Ginny Kelly of Milford, CT. She is predeceased by her parents and brothers Dr. Albert Pilvelis and Robert Pilvelis.

Joyce had membership in the Montpelier Education Association, Vermont Education Association, National Education Association, and the Vermont Retired Educators Association. Her hobbies include gardening, fishing, and crafts.

Per Joyce's wish there will be no calling hours or burial services.
