Ruth Alford Moore, 84, died August 13, 2014, at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, Vermont, after a long illness.
Ruth was born March 21, 1930 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Edith Norton Alford and Alden Euclid Alford. She graduated from Windsor High School in 1948, Vermont Junior College in 1950 and The Hitchcock School of Laboratory Medicine with a degree in Medical Technology.
She married Colin Moore in Windsor, CT on October 17, 1953. Ruth was a volunteer with the Montpelier Unit of the Naval Reserve from 1949 – 1953. She was also a volunteer with the Central Vermont Chapter of The American Red Cross. She was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of The American Revolution and the Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth Chapter. In her younger years, Ruth enjoyed skiing, playing golf, bowling, and playing Bridge.
Survivors include a son, Glenn Moore, along with his wife, Priscilla Moore, of East Montpelier, VT; two daughters, Marian Moore of South Burlington, VT and Carolyn Walker, along with her husband, Wade Walker, of Williston, VT; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Colin Moore in 1964; and two brothers, Alden Alford and Wilson Alford.
The family will receive friends at The Home of Glenn and Priscilla Moore, 1430 Horn of the Moon Rd., East Montpelier, VT on Friday August, 15 from 5-7pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Gabriel's Windsor, CT on Monday, August 18th at 10:00 am.
