Montpelier, VT Ruth E. LaFreniere, 68, formerly of Pioneer Apartments, died on Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Woodridge Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 25, 1942 in Hattisburg, Mississippi, the daughter of Ernest and Elizabeth (Hathaway) Duprey. After her family moved to Vermont in 1944, she attended schools in Middlesex and Northfield. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1960. On August 20, 1963, she married James Fredrick LaFreniere "Jimmy" at St. Augustine's Church in Montpelier. Shortly after marrying, they decided to move to Connenticut and worked for Canada Dry Bottling Company in New London, CT. They later moved to Florida. After the passing of Mr. LaFreniere on July 17 1991 Ruth moved back to Vermont. Survivors include her daughters, Evelyn Payette and her husband Joseph Payette of Barre; and Renee Putney and her husband Brian Putney of Williamstown; sisters, Georgia O'Brian of Waterbury, Christine Abare of Waterbury, Linda Simpson of Montpelier, and Cecilia Sprague of Weld, ME; brothers,Dean Dodge of Middlesex, VT, Clifton Dodge, Jr of Middlesex, VT; six grandchildren, David LaFreniere, James LaFreniere,April Miller, Brittney Wheeler, Joey and Allyssa Payette. She was predeceased by her husband; her brother, Richard Duprey of Worcester; father, Ernest Duprey; and mother, Elizabeth Dodge of Middlesex, VT. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 20th beginning at 10:00 am and a memorial service will follow beginning at 11:00 am at Guare and Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street Montpelier, VT 05602.
