Ruth Lombard Jordan, 87, formerly of Montpelier and for many years living in Port Orange, Fl died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in Port Orange.
She was born on June 22, 1922 in Burlington, VT the daughter of Earl Harrison Lombard and Katherine (Berry) Lombard. She received her education in Montpelier Schools and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1940.
On August 31, 1946 she married Clayton G. Jordan at Trinity United Methodist Church in Montpelier. Mr. Jordan pre-deceased her on August 9, 2001.
She worked for New England Mutual Insurance in Boston, Mass., Hood Rubber Company in Watertown, Mass., and for many years at National Life Insurance Company retiring in June 1977.
Ruth was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, life member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War Auxiliary and the East Central Florida Chapter American Ex-Prisoners of War.
Ruth is survived by a nephew, Kenneth H. Jordan and his wife Jamie of West Pittston, PA; grand nephew, Jared Jordan West Pittston, PA; Grand nephew, Jason Jordan and his wife, Stacie of Wyoming; longtime friends, Anna P. Shannon of Barre, VT and Neil H. Shannon of Northfield, VT; several cousins and many other nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be held in May with the time and date to be announced.
Entombment will take place in Green Mount Cemetery vault to await burial in Riverview Cemetery in Richmond.
