Rose Mary Murtagh, 84, of Montpelier, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Berlin Health and Rehab in Berlin. She was born July 16, 1924, in Montpelier, VT, the daughter of George J. and Anne (Morse) Murtagh (both deceased). She attended St. Michael's Schools and Vermont Junior College. She had worked as a lab technician in Boston and New York City. Her interests included the New York City libraries, her love of opera and classical music, and her cats. Survivors include two brothers, Rev. George Murtagh, and Thomas Murtagh, three sisters, Sister Patricia Murtagh; a Sister of Mercy, Helen Peslin, and Elizabeth Hutchinson; nieces, Anne Hutchinson, Jennifer Nizwantowski, and Sheri Crenshaw, nephews, Joe Hutchinson and Andrew Peslin, and several grand nieces and grand nephews. Friends may call Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, from 6–8 p.m., at Guare and Sons Funeral Home in Montpelier. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
