Obituary

Montpelier, VT Ronald J. Marinelli, 75, of Westview Meadows, died on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at his home in the company of his loving family. He was born on May 30, 1936, the son of Carmine and Ida (Chiocca) Marinelli in Southbridge, MA. He graduated from the Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge, MA and later from the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, CT. On February 9, 1957 he married Claudette L. Trahan at the Notre Dame Church in Southbridge, MA. In his early professional career, he was the chef manager at Cohasset Country Club in Southbridge, MA. After moving to Vermont in 1965, he took on the position of foodservice manager for National Life. He also provided catering services for the central Vermont community, taught adult cooking classes at Spaulding high school, and helped established an advisory board at the New England Culinary Institute. During retirement, Ron enjoyed family trips to Pine Point, ME, cooking at home, and the supportive community of friends at Westview Meadows. He was a member of St. Augustine's Church, the Mutuo in Barre, and the Montpelier Elks Club. He was the past president of the Vermont Chefs Association in Stowe. He is survived by his wife, Claudette Marinelli; his two daughters Lisa Maxfield with her husband Steve Maxfield of Barre, VT, their daughter Ariel of Marshfield, VT; and Beth Smith with her husband Ted Smith of Georgia, VT and their daughter, Laura Smith of Atkinson, NH; his three sons Michael Marinelli wirh his wife Elise of Montpelier and their children, Andrew Marinelli of Montpelier, Jeff Bousquet of Worcester, VT and Joe Bousquet of Chicago, IL; Kevin Marinelli with his wife MartieAnne and their children, Ava and Caelen of Needham, MA; and Steven Marinelli with his wife Nancy of Georgia, VT and their children Alex Marinelli of Barre, and Nick Marinelli currently serving in the United States Air Force in Italy. He is also survived by his sisters, Jean Slaney of Tucson, AZ and Ann Del Pero of Milan, Italy; brothers, Richard and Joseph Marinelli both of Naples, FL; and two great grandchildren, Brayden Bousquet and Julie Swanson. He was predeceased by his parents, Ida and Carmine Marinelli, brother Carmine Marinelli and grandson, Scott Smith. Per request of the family, there will be no calling hours. The family invites you to attend a Funeral Mass to be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 3rd at St. Augustine's Church in Montpelier, VT. Interment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. In-lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, VT 05641. The family would like to thank all of his caregivers throughout the years especially Sheryl Vilbrin, Linda Bisson, Pam Fontaine, Brenda Shephard, and all of the staff and volunteers at Central Vermont Dialysis. In addition, we would like to give a special thanks to the Kellogg Hubbard Library for their collection of audio books that were a great source of entertainment for Ron. On behalf of all of those who knew him, he will be greatly missed.
