Obituary

Plainfield, VT Rodney Lee Newton, 50, of Barre Hill Road in Plainfield, died unexpectedly of injuries sustained in an automobile crash. He was born in Berlin, VT on January 31, 1967, the son of Vernon and Lorraine (Beaudoin) Newton. He attended schools in Plainfield and graduated from Twinfield High School in the class of 1985. For the past 21 years, he has worked for Dubois Construction Company in Montpelier. A job he loved and worked very hard at. His family will remember him as an amazing dad, devoted to his girls; a hard working man who loved classic rock and had an amazing sense of humor. He was a genuine friend to many people. Rod spent many hours enjoying the outdoors riding his bicycle. He loved animals, especially his daughter's dog, Peyton. Survivors include his twin daughters; Hannah Newton and Elizabeth Newton, both of Plainfield, VT; his mother, Lorraine Newton of Barre; sisters, Brenda and husband Jack McSweeney of GA, Roseanne Martell of Barre, Marie and husband David Codling of Barre, and Martha Newton of Barre brothers, Stephen and wife Denise Newton of Plainfield and Tom Newton of Barre, many nieces and nephews as well as his ex wife and friend, Lisa Blake. He was predeceased by his father, Vernon. Calling hours will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2017, also at the funeral Home.
