Montpelier, VT
Robert L. Thomas, 85, formerly of East Montpelier and most recently of Montpelier, Vermont, died on Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
He was born son of George Dolphus Thomas and Pearl Laura (Kellogg) Thomas
at Heaton Hospital on July 29, 1930.
He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1948 and then attended Springfield College. He married Marilla Lilley on October 28, 1950. She predeceased him on June 15, 1997.
In May of 1951, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1953.
He worked for the State of Vermont until his retirement.
Bob loved to golf , cross country ski and fish with friends and family.
He held lifetime memberships with the Montpelier Elks Club and the VFW.
He was also a member of the American Legion.
Family was most important to Bob and he cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his three children; Deborah Jordan and her husband Peter of Maine, Trudy Thomas of Montpelier, and Marty Thomas and his wife Joy of Montpelier; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. a sister, Dorothy Perry; a brother, Charles Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings Laura Guazzoni , Leona Marsha, Wayne Thomas, and Willard Thomas.
Calling hours will be held at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home, at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, December 15 with the memorial service to follow at 6:00 PM.
