Barre, VT Rita M. (Lague) Keefe, 85, beloved wife of Maurice T. Keefe, passed away after a short illness on March 5, 2015. She was born in Newport, VT, on November 10, 1929, the youngest child of Israel E. and Vivian B. (Tetreault) Lague. She was educated in the Sacred Heart School system and graduated from Trinity College in 1952. Prior to her marriage, she was a language teacher at Greensboro High School and later at Derby Academy. She is survived by Maurice, her husband of 51 years; her children: Timothy, his wife Sybil, his daughter Meagan, and his stepdaughter Amelia, all of Shelburne; Pamela of China Grove, NC; and Terence, his wife Julie, and son Brendan, of Westford; two brothers-in-law, David Keefe and Foster Coburn, both of Newport; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and seven siblings, Thomas, Lucille (Mrs. Paul Gosselin), Philip, Albert, Anthony, Teresa (Mrs. Foster Coburn), all of Newport, and Raymond of Derby. Honoring her wishes, there will be no public funeral services. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Newport will be private and at the convenience of the family.
