Richard, "Dick" Provost, 73, of Concord, NH, died Saturday, December 15, in Concord, after a long illness. Dick Provost was born July 5, 1934 in Northfield, Vermont, the son of Adelord and Mary Provost. He grew up in Northfield , VT and attended Northfield High School , graduating in 1952. In 1959, he married Jacqueline Provost of Barre. Dick and Jackie raised five sons in Montpelier, VT where Dick worked as an insurance agent for the Prudential Insurance Company. During his 30-year insurance career, Dick earned many awards, including the coveted "Buddy Zais" award for career contributions to the insurance industry. Dick was an active leader in many Montpelier community organizations, including President of the Montpelier Amatuer Hockey Association (MAHA), Chairman of the Montpelier School Board, Director of Montpelier Little League, and Member of the Montpelier Kiwanis Club. He was a long-time member of the Montpelier Elks Club, where he still holds the course record for bogeys. After Jackie Provost's death, Dick re-married Maydene Wright of Concord , N.H. The couple spent the past nine years in Concord . He was predeceased by one brother, Donald Provost and one son, Greg Provost in 1961. Dick Provost's survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Lisa Provost of Cherry Hills, CO., Paul and Linda Provost of Concord, N.H., Jeff and Mary Provost of Alpharetta, GA., David and Anne Provost of Shelburne, VT and Jonathan Provost of Warren, VT. Dick is also survived by two step-sons and two stepdaughters: Rob Wright and his wife, Susan, of Milford, NH, David Wright and his wife Lorrie of Hill, NH, Carol Prescott and her husband Dane of Concord, NH, and Valerie Robinson and her husband, Joel, of Epsom, NH. Combined, the Provost and Wright families have 18 grand-children and four great-grandchildren. Dick also leaves behind a brother, Gene Provost of Northfield, VT and a sister, Jackie O'Hern of Shrewsbury, MA. and numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Wed. Dec. 19th from 6-9 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street , Concord , NH . A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 20th at Saint John Evangelist Church in Concord , NH . A memorial service will held in Northfield , VT in the spring.
