Ralpha Pratt, 76, of Granview Drive died unexpectedly while vacationing on the south coast of Maine.
She was born on November 17, 1938, in St. Albans, VT, the daughter of Ralph and Wanieta (Bruley) Newcity. She attended BFA of St. Albans and later Montpelier High School where she graduated in the class of 1958.
On July 8, 1961, she married Roderick Pratt at St. Augustine's Church.
She worked primarily as a home maker while raising her family. Earlier in her life, she worked for the former Endicott Johnson shoe store in Montpelier, as well as National Life, Union Mutual and Price Chopper.
She was a Girl Scout Leader at the Unitarian Church in Montpelier between 1967 and 1972. She was also a Girl Scout Leader in Barre Town in the mid 1970's. She has recently been involved with the the quilting club at the Bethany United Church. She enjoyed, camping, reading, knitting, and sewing quilts.
Survivors include her husband, Roderick; son, Russell Pratt and his wife Nataliya of Boise, ID; daughter, PenniAnn Stearns and her husband Robert of Marshfield, VT; brothers, Robert Newcity and his wife, Sandy of Berlin and Randall Newcity of Burlington, VT; Grandchildren Sophia Pratt, Maxim Pratt, Randall Stearns, and Ryan Stearns.
She was predeceased by her nephew, Corey Newcity.
Calling hours will be held from 6-8:00 pm on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will held 11:00 am on Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. There will be a gathering at the Montpelier American Legion Hall immediately following the funeral mass. Committal prayers will be held 9:00 am on Wednesday, June 24th at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
