Obituary

Priscilla "Pat" Graves, 79, of Montpelier and formerly of Lunenburg, MA died on Monday, February 1, 2010 surrounded by family at the Woodridge Nursing Home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Alcide & Priscilla L'Ecuyer. She was a high school graduate and had attended Franklin Pierce College in NH. In 1950 she joined the Women's Army Corps during the Korean Conflict. She served at the Pentagon in Washington, DC and in Germany. She received an honorable discharge in 1952 as a corporal. She married in 1954 to John "Jack" R. Graves of Leominster, MA. After residing in Leominster for a time they moved to Lake Shirley in Lunenburg where they raised their 5 children and cared for her brother-in-law, Charles "Puggy" Graves who resided with them until his passing in 2003. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Harry F. Graves, Co. in Leominster for many years along side her husband. In 1991 they relocated to Vermont. While in Vermont, she worked at J.C. Penney, Berlin, VT for 10 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved spending time with her family and wintering in Florida. One of her favorite hobbies was painting. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years John (Jack) Graves, her son, Chuck Graves and his wife Dione of Denver, CO, her daughter Jackie Ramondelli and her husband Sam of Lunenburg, MA, her son, Harry Graves and his partner Bonnie Robtoy of Calais, VT, her daughter Hope Franks and her husband Steve of Plainfield, VT. She is also survived by one sister, Anita Lineen of Winchendon, MA, as well as 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Karen Graves of Lunenburg, MA and her grandson, Michael DeRienzo of Plainfield, VT. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Peter and Alcide L'Ecuyer and her sisters, Rita L'Ecuyer and Lorraine Wallace. Calling hours will be held at Guare & Sons Funeral Home, 30 School St., Montpelier, VT on Friday, February 5th, 2010 from 5 PM to 8 PM A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Montpelier, 16 Barre St., Montpelier, VT, Noon, Saturday, February 6th, 2010.
