Pauline A. (Polly) Fernandez, 92 of Berlin Street, Montpelier passed away January 10, 2015 at Central Vermont Medical Center. She was born in Barre, VT on April 6, 1922 the daughter of Charles & Nellie (Scampini) Catto. She grew up in North Barre. Pauline attended Barre Schools and graduated in 1940 from Spaulding High School. On July 2, 1949, Pauline married Phillip J. Fernandez in Barre. Mr. Fernandez predeceased her on January 25, 2005. They were married for 55 years. Together they owned the New Frontier drive-in restaurant in Montpelier. Pauline worked for over 20 years at the Vermont State Employees Credit Union. She is survived by a daughter, Joanne Murray of Danville, VT; son, Phillip J. Fernandez, Jr. and his wife, Kelly of Middlesex, VT; 5 grandchildren, Nathan Murray; Chelsea Murray; Jesse Murray; & Jamiee Murray-Smith and her husband Jonathan Smith; Tylea Murray and her husband Jorge Garcia and her first great-grandchild who is due in April. Pauline is also survived by a sister, Doris Grant of Barre, VT. She was predeceased by a sister, Julie Liese and a brother, Charles Catto; son-in-law, David Murray. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and helped all five of them attend college to follow their dreams. She brought joy to many people throughout her life with a kind heart and a great sense of humor. There will be no calling hours and a private family memorial service and burial will be held at Berlin Corners Cemetery this summer.
