Phyllis E. Larose 70, of Montpelier Vt., passed peacefully after a short courageous battle with cancer with her loving family and friends by her bedside at home.
Born 10/29/1946 to Robert E. Mercier and Beatrice H.Mercier ( Nourse ) in Hardwick Vermont. Phyllis grew up and attended schools in Hardwick and Morrisville Vermont. At People's Academy she was a basketball cheerleader. Her sophomore year the family moved to Montpelier, where she attended Montpelier High School. Little did she know this was where she would meet the love of her life, John Larose. John and Phyllis fell in love at the tender age of 16 and were married for 51 years.
Phyllis was employed in the Claims department at Union Mutual for 30+ years. Prior to that, she worked at National Life and State Equipment of Vermont.
Mom's outdoor enjoyments included gardening, berry picking and rides to camp in Norton Vermont. Fishing was a passion where mom and dad spent many a day in the sun, rain or ice on Lake Memphremagog and Norton Pond. In addition to her love of nature and outdoors, some of her favorite adventures were trips to the Casino and Cruising with dad to different countries with Joyce and Eric Michael's Tour groups.
Mom leaves behind as she would say "My pride and joy, my family." Husband, John Larose of Montpelier, Lisa Rice and Tim Vincent of East Montpelier, Michelle Larose and Angela Tremblay of Berlin Vermont, Jim and Teresa Larose of Fairfax Vermont. Her grandchildren, Amanda Rice, Meghan Rice, Colvin Rice, Connor Rice, Matthew Larose, Rebekah Larose, Marie Larose and her extended family grandchildren, Ashley, Justin and Jared Vincent. She is also survived by her sister, Betty LeFort of Webster, Mass; and her two brothers, Richard Mercier of Oxford, Mass; and Ron Mercier and his wife, Julie of Williamstown, VT
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 – 7:00pm on Sunday January 15th at Guare and Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street, Montpelier. A Memorial service will be held Monday, January 16th, 11:00am from the funeral home with a reception to follow at the Steak House.
