Obituary

Phyllis Alma (Hoare) Baker of Park Ave., Montpelier passed away at the Berlin Health and ReHab Center in Berlin on Saturday, June 7, 2008. She was born January 8, 1917 in Montpelier the daughter of William and Catherine (Buchanan) Hoare. She was a graduate of Montpelier High School in 1935 and worked for the Vermont State Tax Department for seven years. Phyllis owned and operated a rooming house at her home on Park Ave. for many years. With her love of music and a good time she will be missed by all. On March 26, 1942 she married Herbert Alson Baker of Concord, VT. Phyllis is survived by 3 children, Thomas Jeffery Baker and his wife, Charlotte of Soldotna. Alaska, Phoebe-Jane Abbott and her husband, Richard of Sterling, Alaska, and John Edward Baker of Montpelier, 4 grandchildren, Tamara Hunt, Sarah Seagraves, Charles (Bo) Richard Abbott, II, and Tobias Baker Abbott all of Alaska and 10 great grandchildren; the Hunt great grandchildren, Moriah, Brianna, Clarissa, Ethan, Quintin, Priscilla, Leah; the Seagrave great grandchildren, Morgan, Chestin and Preston. Also she is survived by a sister, Estella Meaker of Waterbury and brother Joseph Howard of Montpelier and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband on December 25, 2001 and a son, Alan T. Baker on March 7, 2004. A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Guare & Sons Funeral Home with calling hours beginning 11:00 am until the hour of the funeral. Burial will follow in the Berlin Corners Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
