Philip Paul Backus, 59, of Three Mile Bridge Road, died at his home on Tuesday, October 26, 2010.
He was born in Montpelier on May 30, 1951, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Perkins) Backus. He graduated from Northfield High School in 1970.
Phil worked at the former Capital Market on Main Street in Montpelier for 20 years, then later for National Life as a Security Guard for 10 years.
Phil loved animals and NASCAR racing, he enjoyed walking and socializing with friends. He loved summers and going to beaches in Florida and Burlington.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Backus and her companion, Sumner Small; two brothers, Steven Backus and his companion Marijane Barber of Randolph, VT; and David Backus and his wife Judy of Northfield, VT; two nieces and one nephew.
He was predeceased by his father Paul H. Backus in 1978.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, October 29th 2010 at the Berlin Corners Cemetery.
