Obituary

Montpelier, VT Peter E. Millette, 76, of Forrest Drive, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2017, at his home. His loving family was with him at his bedside. He was born on March 16, 1941, in Montpelier, VT. He was the son of Emilien J. and Grace Porter Millette. He graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1959. Peter started working for Cross Bakery in Montpelier in 1961 and retired, after 50 years in the bread business, from Freihofer Bakery. On October 24, 1959, he married Patricia Falzarano in Northfield, VT. Together they raised three sons, Matt, Russell, and John. On March 19, 1998, he married Penny Nolan. They spent many years wintering in their Brooksville, FL home. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, and playing cribbage with his buddies, as well as Thursday night races at Thunder Road. His memberships include St. Augustines Church, and the Montpelier Elks. His sharp wit and caring nature will be missed by all who knew him. Peter was predeceased by his parents and sister, Ann M. Belanger. His survivors include his sister, Mary T. Smith of Barre; his wife, Penny Millette of Montpelier; his children, Matt (Sandy) of Florida, Russell (Star) of Roxbury, John (partner Andrew Czopp) of Massachusetts, Chasity (Dan) Fagnant of Hyde Park, Ryan Nolan (partner Kylie Ostrout) of Hyde Park; grandchildren, Greg and Stephanie Millette, Mitzi Millette Dunbar, Jordan and Sawyer Fagnant, Meaghan, Landon and Cody Nolan, and Hayden Bishop; as well as five great grandchildren. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 6-8:00 pm on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street, Montpelier, VT 05602. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 2, 2017 at St. Augustines Church in Montpelier. Peters family is grateful to the Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice for their care and comfort in his final days.
