Obituary

Pauline C. Willard, 80, formerly of Prospect Street in Montpelier and most recently of Berlin Health and Rehab Center, died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Central Vermont Medical Center. She was born on February 21, 1930, in Hardwick, VT the daughter of Joseph and Leonie (Brochu) Couture. She attended Hardwick Schools and graduated from Hardwick Academy. On May 27, 1950, she married Robert F. Willard. They later divorced. She worked for some time at National Life Insurance Company. After raising her children, Pauline returned to work for Smith, Whitcomb, and Cook in Barre for many years as a secretary. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post # 3 and V.F.W. Auxiliary, Post # 792. She was also a member of St. Augustine's Church. Survivors include her children; Connie Godin of Stowe and Robert Willard of Barre; one brother, Robert Couture of Harell, CA; two sisters, Annette Couture of San Mateo, CA, and Bertha Hooper of Hardwick, VT; 3 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son; Charles Willard; brother, Norman Couture; and sister, Florence Gallant. There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 4, 2010 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial and committal prayers will be offered immediately after the Mass at the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick, VT.
