Paul L. Seguin, 90, of the County Road, East Montpelier died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Starr Farm Nursing Home in Burlington.
Paul was born in North Hatley, PQ, Canada on June 10, 1922 the son of Augustus and Rhea (Barre) Seguin. As a young child, the family moved to Barre and he attended the North End School and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1939.
Following his graduation from high school he worked as a tractor trailer driver delivering granite to Scranton, PA and New York City for Rossi Trucking Company of Barre. He enlisted into the US Army on September 23, 1943 and served in England, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany. Paul was a heavy machine gun operator in the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was discharged from the service on December 5, 1945 with several military medals. He was a member of St. Augustine Church and VFW # 792.
He married Millicent Fleurrey in Montpelier on September 9, 1950.
Paul was a diesel mechanic for Caterpillar Motors. He worked many years with Jordan-Milton in Barre and Montpelier. He retired in 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Millicent Seguin of East Montpelier; three daughters, Jeanne Leno of Berlin, Gaylene Kramer of Montpelier; and Paula Perry of East Montpelier; 11 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Jean Desilets of Barre; and brother, Charles Seguin of Burlington; many nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by a sister, Clair Begun and 2 brothers, Maurice and Arthur.
Calling hours will be held Friday, April 26th from 6-8 PM at Guare & Sons Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 12 Noon, Saturday, April 27th at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial with Military honors will follow the Mass at Plain-Mont Cemetery.
