Patrick Carlton Ryan passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30 at his family care home in Barton, Vermont.
Born in Montpelier, Vermont, Patrick was a long-time resident of East Montpelier, living on Barnes Rd. in the Center with his mother, father, and three siblings. As a youngster Pat enjoyed family outings, fishing and swimming and games with others in the neighborhood. He especially loved animals and had strong bonds with family pets. His interests were varied and he was a lifelong collector.
Pat attended East Montpelier schools and graduated from Spaulding High School.
Patrick worked as a dishwasher for the New England Culinary Institute and the Wayside Restaurant until a disability forced him to leave the workforce in his 50s.
Patrick lived with his parents until their passing and then moved to his own mobile home in Berlin. When illness precluded independent living, he resided in family care homes, the most recent being with a compassionate and loving family in Barton, Vermont where he passed.
Patrick is predeceased by his father Carlton R. Ryan and his mother Elaine P. Ryan. He is survived by his sister Dona Ryan of Woodsville, NH, his brother Michael Ryan of Canterbury, NH, and his sister Rebecca Arnold of Boxborough, MA, and nieces and nephews in VT, NY, and MA.
A service will be held at Guare & Sons Funeral Home in Montpelier at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, followed by burial in the Doty Memorial Cemetery in East Montpelier Center. Those wishing to remember Pat may consider a donation to Washington County Mental Health.
