Obituary

Post Mills, VT Patricia Miller Coburn, 90, died on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Woodridge Nursing Home. She was born in Newport, VT on January 11, 1929, the daughter of Leon and Elizabeth (Parkhill) Miller. She was raised in Beebe, QC. She graduated from Derby Academy and then from the University of Vermont in 1951 with a bachelors degree in education. Her career as an elementary school teacher spanned 25 years. She taught in several school districts including Wilton, CT, Alburgh, VT and East Montpelier. On July 5, 1958, she married Russell Coburn. Together they raised a family in Montpelier and enjoyed summers at their cottage on Lake Fairlee. After her husbands retirement, they renovated the cottage into their permanent home and "The Seven Cs" became a favorite gathering place for many generations of family and friends. Pat was known for her playful sense of humor and deep devotion to her family. She was beloved by her children and their spouses, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and her brother James Miller. Survivors include her children Allyson Coburn; Jonathan Coburn and his wife Diane; Kevin Coburn and his wife Katharine; and Daniel Coburn and his wife Jillian; grandchildren Colin Coburn and his wife Danielle, Cashlyn Coburn, Mikaela Pierce-Coburn and her husband Nick, Corinne Coburn, Donald Coburn and his wife Renee and their daughter Lucie Jeanne, and Miles Coburn. She also leaves behind two sisters, Jean Robertson, and Mary Holden, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing in Berlin, VT.
