Obituary

Patricia Bertrand (nee Flannery), 75, of New City, New York passed away on September 12, 2008. She was born and raised in Montpelier, VT on May 17, 1933 to Patrick and Julia (Henry) Flannery. She married Daniel Bertrand in Montpelier on May 20, 1957. They lived several places before settling in New City in 1970. Patricia worked for the Tax Assessors Office of Clarkstown, from 1980 to her retirement in 1995. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Augustine Church in New City. Patty had many close friends in Rockland County. She enjoyed her retirement and the many weekend trips to Atlantic City with her husband Dan at her side. Her favorite moments were when all her family would gather for holidays and backyard barbeques. Patty was a very loving and caring Wife, Mother and Grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel; devoted mother to Danny Bertrand and his wife, Ellen of New City, NY; Julie Coia and her husband, Ray of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; David Bertrand and his friend, Liza of San Diego, CA; Doug Bertrand and his wife, Marie of Stony Point, NY; and Mary Brantner and her husband, Scott, of Waldwick, NJ; cherished grandmother (Grammie Pat) to Kristen, Tony, Bobby, Brianne, Danielle, Tricia, Samantha, Richie, Kevin, and Carly. Patty is also survived by her sister, Jean Ormsbee of East Montpelier; brother, John Flannery and his wife, Sandy of East Montpelier, and brother-in-law, Fred Bertrand and his wife, Ellie of Danville, VT and Florida; many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Sunday, September 14, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday at St. Augustine Church in New City, NY. Committal and burial service for friends and family will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008 at Berlin Corner Cemetery, Berlin, VT. A reception will follow at The Steak House Restaurant.
