Norman Herbert Papineau, 81, Route 14, North Montpelier died Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Jct., VT.
He was born December 7, 1925 in Sunapee, NH the son of William James and Mary Jane (Chase) Papineau.
Norman served in the United States Army WW 2 and was part of the European Theater of Operations, and served in Belgium, Holland, France and Germany. Following the end of the war he reenlisted until he was discharged in Jan. 1950.
On October 21, 1951 he married Lorraine Lunderville in Quechee, VT . They have six children, Sheila Martin of Leominister, Mass., Richard Papineau of Wyoming; Sheryl Morin of Walden, VT; James Papineau of Plainfield, VT; Shayne Roster of Wyoming; Robin Garbacik of Berlin, VT; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Norm is also survived by two brothers, Raymond Papineau of Barre and Kenneth Papineau of Washington.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor McKnight, Dorothy Orr and two brothers, Robert Papineau and Lawrence Papineau, and a grandson Oaklyn Garbacik.
He loved his country, playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing and most of all, his family.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 7-9 PM at Guare & Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street, Montpelier.
Military honors will be accorded to him on Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Randolph Center, VT.
