Norman Charles Blodgett, 60, of Bianchi Street, East Barre died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at his home.
He was born on June 9, 1952 in Barre City, the son of Francis & Harriet (Jones-Lauth) Blodgett. Norman attended Barre Graded Schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1970.
Norm married the former Susan Jean Cavanaugh in Barre City on November 12, 1975. They spent their married life in Barre and raised five children. Susan died on November 26, 2011.
He served in the Vermont Army National Guard. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and enjoyed Karaoke there on Friday evenings. He attended United Pentecostal Church of Orange and The Salvation Army of Barre.
Norm worked for several years as a security guard at the Vermont State office complex in Montpelier. His latest assignment was the check-in booth at the Pavilion Office Building. He retired in 2008 due to declining health.
Survivors include five children, Esther Byam of Worcester, VT; Helen Fisk of East Barre, VT; Linda (Scoville) Senecal of Barre, VT; John Fisk of Williamstown, VT and Sam Fisk of Williamstown, VT; and 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, David Blodgett of Barre and an aunt, Josephine Lauth of Barre and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Norm was pre-deceased by his wife, parents and three brothers, Joseph, Francis, & Eddie Arnold.
A Memorial service will be held at the Guare and Sons Funeral Home in Montpelier, VT on Saturday October 27, 2012 at 1 p.m.
