Norma Mary (Stokes) Cecchini, 88, formerly of Wheelock Street, Montpelier died Saturday, November 03, 2012 at Woodridge Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 14, 1923 in Hinesburg, VT the daughter of Adelbert & Ruby (Emmons) Stokes.
Norma attended school in Hinesburg and graduated in 1945 from Mary Fletcher School of Nursing. She pursued her nursing career at Mary Fletcher
Hospital in Burlington, VT and later as a nurse in the Montpelier School Systems.
On December 2, 1950, she married Edro L. Cecchini in Northfield, VT. They lived for many years at their home on Wheelock Street in Montpelier where they raised five children.
Norma enjoyed spending time with her family whether it was camping in Maine , the many summers at Little River Campground or at the camp on Lake Champlain. She loved playing cards with friends, family and especially loved showing her grandchildren how to play cards and often challenged them to a game of cribbiage or canasta. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading and was an avid golfer. Most of all she cherished her children and grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her children and their families, Jamie (Cecchini) Machia and her husband, John and daughter, Lindsey and her fiancée, Karl Taylor of Highgate, VT; Edro Cecchini Jr. and his wife, Dora, daughters Morgan and Kasey of Arlington, VT and Elizabeth and daughter Madeline of Greenville, S.C.; Philip A. Cecchini and his wife, Elizabeth of Barre and daughters, Sarah of Barre and Karen of Plattsburgh, NY; Pam (Cecchini) Poalino and her husband, Dan of North Clarendon, VT and sons, 2nd Lt. Ranger Eric Poalino of Fort Bragg, NC., Andrew & Chad Poalino of North Clarendon, VT; Diane (Cecchini) Clark and her husband, Jeff and sons, Travis and Tyler all of South Barre, VT.
She is also survived by her sister, Elene Brigham Sartell of Pennsylvania and many nieces, a nephew and many cousins.
Norma was predeceased by her husband, Edro on July 30, 2003.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, Nov. 7th at Trinity United Methodist Church, 137 Main Street, Montpelier. A memorial reception will follow the service. Burial will take place in the Cecchini family lot in Green Mount Cemetery.
