Nelson worked as a granite polisher at Beck & Beck Granite Company and Jones Brothers Granite, eventually retiring from the Peerless Granite Shed. He was a Washington County Deputy Sheriff where he served as an escort and worked at the Tunbridge World's Fair and the Washington County Field Days. Nelson was also a member of the VFW # 792 and the Moose Club of Barre. He is greatly loved by his children and grandchildren and will be missed so very much. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Lynda Barclay of Montpelier; Diana Putnam and her husband, Luther of Middlesex; and Lorretta Barclay of Middlesex; and 5 grandchildren, Shandi Barclay, Karson Barclay, Darren Wise, Zachary Wise, and Laurena Wise.
