Obituary

Barre, VT Napoleon Omer Blanchette, 90, of 12 Edgewood Ave., Barre, died September 18 after a brief illness. He lived for 30 years with his daughter and son-in-law, Denise (Blanchette) and Daniel L. Pudvah, before moving to Woodridge Nursing Home earlier this year. He was born May 2, 1920 in Berlin, N. H. one of ten children of Napoleon Blanchette, Sr. and Amanda (Gagne) Blanchette, eight of whom pre-deceased him: Florence; Irene; Blanche; Rene; Jeanette; Louis; Yvonne; and an infant girl. He was married to Antoinette Marcotte of Berlin, N.H. who pre-deceased him in 1962. He moved to Hartford, CT to work in a Defense plant during World War II, following which he returned to work in the Gilman, VT Paper Mill. He moved to Montpelier in 1958 and for many years managed the Blind Artisan's Cafeteria at the State Administration Building. He was a longtime member of St. Augustine Parish prior to moving to Barre, where he was a member of St. Monica Parish. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Charles Jasman Assembly of the Bishop Brady Council, Knights of Columbus. His only surviving sibling is Henry Blanchette and his wife, Yvette of Manchester, N.H. Also surviving are his daughter Gloria Heidenreich and husband, James of East Corinth, daughter Pauline Copping and husband, Pete of Plainfield, son Raymond Blanchette and wife, Judy of Barre and daughter Denise Pudvah and husband Daniel of Barre. Also surviving are grandchildren Jeremy and Megan Heidenreich of Newmarket, N.H., Christopher and Jacqueline Heidenreich of Pennsylvania, Trace and Millie Heidenreich of North Carolina, Lara Heidenreich of New Hampshire, Ryan Copping of Plainfield, Antoinette and Alfredo Quinonez of Barre, Araminta and Alicia Pudvah of Barre. He was predeceased by granddaughter Amanda Pudvah of Barre. Surviving great-grandchildren are Connor and Daniel Heidenreich of Newmarket, N.H., Carolyn Rose Heidenreich of Pennsylvania and Joseph Quinonez of Barre. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like you to join us in celebrating that our dad is with the Lord who he has so loved all of his life. Calling hours will be Monday, Sept. 20th from 6-8PM at the Prunneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre, with a Funeral Mass at 10AM Tuesday at St. Monica Church. Burial will follow in Green Mount Cemetery in Montpelier.
