Nancy L. Cross, 58, of Weston Trailer Park died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Berlin Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Derby Line, VT on March 16, 1950, the daughter of Maynard and Hazel (Spencer) Payne. She attended South Royalton grade school and high school. On November 29, 1969, she married Albert T. Cross at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Montpelier. She worked for the State of Vermont in Waterbury as a mail clerk, the Department of Motor Vehicles in Montpelier and the Secretary of State office. Later she worked for Capital Dry Cleaner which was formerly known as Howe Dry Cleaner's then Jason's Dry Cleaners. She also worked for a short time for Mayo Nursing Home Berlin Health & ReHab Center. She was a member of the Moose Club and the Berlin Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and cooking. Survivors include her husband Albert T. Cross, Jr of Berlin, VT; daughter, Amy Wade of Montpelier; two sons, Tim Cross of Barre, VT and William Cross of Jeffersonville, VT; step daughters, Janet Jones of Danville and Lorraine Cross; stepson, James Cross of Jeffersonville, VT; Grandmother, Ida Labelle of Middleburg, NY; sisters, Joanne Hoadley of Braintree, VT; brother, Maynard Payne, Jr of Middleburg, NY; half sisters, Terry Normandin of Bristol, NH and Jane Munzo of Middleburg, NY; half brothers, Paul Moses of East Randolph, VT; Deloran Payne of Voorheesville, NY, and John Payne of Middleburg, NY; sixteen grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by a stepson, Thomas Cross, stepfather, Elroy Moses and stepmother, Caroline Payne. Calling hours will be held from 7:00 - 9:00 pm on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Guare and Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. A reception will follow the service at the Berlin Fire Station in Riverton, VT. Burial will be in the Berlin Corners Cemetery at a later date.
