Obituary

Barre, VT Nancy J. Bailey, 72, of Barre, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 7, 2014 following a short illness at the Berlin Health and Rehab Center. She was born on March 14, 1942, the daughter of Frank A. Sinclair and Anne (Pierson) Sinclair. She attended Plainfield public schools and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1960. On October 18, 1960, she enlisted in the United States Air Force where she met and married Thomas Joe Bailey in 1962. Following her honorable discharge, they moved to California where they had their son, Jay. After their divorce, she moved back to Vermont and went to work for the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles and enlisted in the Vermont Army National Guard. After serving for over 20 years in the Guard she retired in April of 2000. In 1996 she retired from the Department of Highway Safety as a Program Coordinator. Nancy was devoted to her family and especially loved her three grandchildren. She lived every day reading the Bible and praying for her family and others. Nancy was an avid Red Sox fan. She loved to read and write poetry. She had a heart for others and would go out of her way to help them. She was a member of the East Barre Congregational Church and a long time volunteer at the Central Vermont Medical Center. She is survived by her son, Jay Bailey and his wife Sheila of Barre and their children, Adam, Nathaniel, and Anna; sisters, Carol Sinclair of South Burlington and Martha Belanger and her husband Renfield of New Smyrna Beach, FL; cousin, George Stevens and his wife, Sheila of Milton, and two nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Friot. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held this Sunday the 14th at 2:00 at the East Barre Congregational Church in East Barre. A committal with military honors will be held in the spring at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, VT. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495 or to the Central Vermont Humane Society, P.O.
