Muriel Ruth (Washburn) Bianchi, a former resident of Berlin Street, passed away peacefully at Berlin Health and Rehab on September, 22, 2015.
She was born in Washington, VT on January 23, 1922, daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Washburn. She lived in Seekonk, MA and Riverside, RI before moving back to Vermont to marry Joseph Bianchi on June 27, 1964. Muriel was an accountant at J.C. Goff Company in Providence, RI for many years before moving to Montpelier and continued her accounting career with the state of Vermont at the Highway Department, Department of Employment and Training, and retired from State Building Division. She was a member of the Unitarian Church in Montpelier and their Womens Alliance Group, the Charity Chapter #57 of Williamstown Eastern Star and a former member of the Rob Morris Chapter, and the Green Mountain Club. She and Joe visited his homeland in Italy and traveled to many Shrine Conventions throughout the country. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, and crossword puzzles, making lemon meringue pies, and treating her family to a delicious Thanksgiving dinner for several years. One of her favorite pastimes was going to camp at Curtis Pond in Calais. They welcomed family and friends to visit anytime. Another pastime was reading books and magazines.
Muriel leaves a step son, John Bianchi and his wife Dolly of Bristol, NH; three step grandsons, Stephen, David, and Robert Bianchi; a sister, Doris Washburn of East Montpelier; a sister in law, Edith Washburn of Jacksonville, FL and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe; a brother, Donald Washburn; and two sisters, Marge Curtin and Marion Codling.
A Celebration of life with an Eastern Star Memorial service will be held 11:00 am, October 10th, at the Unitarian Church in Montpelier with a reception to immediately follow. A committal service will be held at Green Mount Cemetery.
