Mittie Clara Gidney

Mittie Clara Gidney passed away peacefully at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont, on September 27, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 29, 1944 in Montpelier, Vermont, Mittie was the daughter of Robert Gidney and Europa (Herring) Gidney. After graduating from Montpelier High School, Mittie attended O'Brien's School of Cosmetology. However, Mittie decided to pursue her passion of caring for children. After retirement, Mittie provided childcare for her great nieces and nephew.

Mittie had many interests that included knitting, snowmobiling, photography and cooking. She was especially skilled in creating artistic cakes for family.

Mittie is survived by her loving sister Roberta Morse and brother-in-law Sherwood Morse of East Montpelier, her brother Ennis Gidney and sister-in-law Jane Gidney of Montpelier. She was a proud aunt, great-aunt and great-great aunt. Mittie is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mittie will be dearly missed by her family! Services are in the care of Guare and Sons Funeral Home of Montpelier, Vermont. The family will plan a private memorial at a later date.
