East Montpelier, VT Maybeth L. Butler, 85, of Center Road, East Montpelier died October 26, 2018 at the Central Vermont Medical Center. She was born on April 14, 1933 in Waterbury, VT, the daughter of William and Ella (Rogers) Lowe and attended schools in Waterbury, graduating from Waterbury High School in the class of 1951. In 1952, Maybeth married Allen G. Butler in the Advent Christian Church in Colbyville, VT. After Maybeth and Allen were married they operated the Butler Family Farm on Center Road in East Montpelier. Mr. Butler predeceased her on October 6, 2013 and Maybeth continued working on the farm with her son, Gary. Maybeth was active in the Old Meeting House Sunday School and Choir. She loved singing, playing piano, accordion, and organ. She and Allen participated in country dancing, exhibiting antique cars and dolls in local parades. She enjoyed her time working together with her family on the farm, of which she was particularly fond of raising calves. She always had a much loved small lap dog. She enjoyed restoring and collecting dolls especially those related to Shirley Temple. Everyone thought of her as a very kind and loving woman. She will be missed. Maybeth is survived by a daughter, Donna Butler of West Linn, OR; a son, Gary W. Butler of East Montpelier; 3 grandchildren, Kelly Williams, Chris Campbell, and Scott Campbell; 3 brothers, Wendell Lowe of Waterbury, VT, Rayfield Lowe of Maryland, and Gordon Lowe of Randolph, VT. She was predeceased by her husband, Allen; a son, Bruce in 2010, and a brother Ralph Lowe. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Old Meeting House Church, 1620 Center Road, East Montpelier, VT. A committal will follow at the Doty Cemetery.
