Maxine M. Duffey, 89, of Maple Ave died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Central Vermont Medical Center.
She was born on June 14, 1918 in Montpelier, the daughter of George W. And Blanche R. (Doying) Ladd. She attended schools in New Hampshire.
On September 13, 1935 she married Earl Duffey in Montpelier, VT. Mr. Duffey predeceased her on September 10, 1965.
For years, she and her husband worked at ran the Miss Montpelier Diner. She worked at other various restaurants in Vermont and Florida. Maxine's main vocation was homemaker to her husband and children.
Maxine was a member of St. Monica's Church in Barre. She also was a founding member of the Marine Corps League, Montpelier chapter.
Survivors include her daughter; Starr Hughmanic of Toms River, NJ and son John "Jack" Duffey of Barre, VT; 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 22 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two daughters; Kathleen Duffey and Anna Herbert, and by two sisters; Grace Miller and Pearl Nelson.
There will be no calling hours and a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
