Colchester, VT Maxine Gail Baldwin, 77, formerly of Meadow Drive in Colchester, died on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Kindred Transitional Care and Rehab Center in Burlington. She was born on December 4, 1935 in Barre, VT, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Emond) Hamel. She graduated from Spaulding High School in 1953. She later received her Licensed Nurse Practitioner certification from Bennington College. On July 21, 1962, she married Richard W. Baldwin, Sr. in New Hampshire. Mr. Baldwin predeceased her on July 3, 2006 She worked for many years as a Nurse at the Barre Hospital before she and her family moved to Colchester in the mid 1970's. It was then that she began working in the Manufacturing Plant at IBM. She retired in 1999. Maxine enjoyed reading books, shopping, and playing cards with her friends and family. Survivors include her sons; Richard and his wife Kimberly Baldwin of Calais, Nelson and his wife Lisa Baldwin of Colchester; and Ralph and his wife Brenda of North Carolina; sister, Barbara Normand of California; brothers, Ronald Hamel of Texas and Gary Hamel of California; and several grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces and nephew. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home.
