Montpelier, VT
Matthew H. Talbert, 35, of Berlin Street, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his home.
He was born on December 10, 1982, the son of Michael H. Talbert and Karen E. Case in Burlington, VT.
He attended Lake Regional Unified High School District 24 and graduated in 2000. Immediately following, during his initial years at Johnson State College, he met and fell in love with Frances Low. It was from this first meeting that Matt would express his intent to marry Frances to his mother. Matt married his best friend on May 3, 2007 in Montpelier.
Matt worked as a baker for Pheobes Restaurant in Montpelier for many years until its closing. His family and close friends were the true benefactors of his seemingly innate talent to bake. Cheese cakes, crme Brule and pecan pies made by Matt tasted better than any other.
Matt had an incredible green thumb. Growing plants in his garden brought him joy. His home is filled with green and his yard was transformed into a lovely space to play and relax.
Music was always a part of Matts life. This was something that connected him with his wife, kids, and siblings. Sharing favorite albums, going to shows, and singing his kids to sleep each night.
Above all else, spending time with his wife, children and family was most important.
Matt is survived by his wife, Frances Talbert and their children, Lucy (3), Henry (5), Charles (7), and Gus (9), all of Montpelier; his father, Michael H. Talbert of Glover; his mother, Karen E. Case of Chazy; his siblings, Angela Talbert of South Barre and Andy Talbert of Woodbury.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday afternoon on October 27th at the Frances and Matts home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family at PO Box 143 Montpelier, VT 05601.
