Mary G. Carder, 85, formerly of Pioneer Apartments, Montpelier, VT, and most recently of Berlin Health & Rehab center, Berlin, VT, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin, VT.
She was born on December 19, 1922 in Manchester, NH, the daughter of Paul and Helen (Ruane) Major. She attended McDonald Elementary School and graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1940.
She was previously married to Nicholas Vergas for thirty years who predeceased her. She subsequently married Dean Carder who predeceased her.
She worked as a textile inspector for several mills in Manchester but spent her most of her career with the Pandora Mill Company and after 25 years she retired in 1985.
When she lived in the Manchester area she attended St. Anne's Catholic Church.
She enjoyed dancing and bowling. She also enjoyed cheering the Boston Red Sox and was thrilled at seeing them win two World Series in 3 years. She was a life long fan of Shirley Temple as well as an animal lover.
Survivors include her son, Richard Vergas and his wife Maryellen of Albuquerque, NM, and their children Christopher and Zoe; son, Robert Vergas of Oakland, California; daughter, Sharyn Duplessis and husband Fred of Montpelier and their children Michael, Jeffrey, and Megan; daughter, Sheryl Teague and husband David of Barre and their children Kellie Bowers, Erin Kilrain, Ashley Teague and Alex Teague; great grandsons, Alexei and Dominick. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Ruby Getchell and brother Paul Major.
There will be no calling hours. A grave side service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Manchester, NH.
