IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marian S.
Vallette
February 12, 1926 – April 29, 2023
BERLIN, VT
Marian S. Vallette, formerly of Peabody and Danvers, Massachusetts, died peacefully in her sleep on April 29, 2023, at 97 years young.
Born on February 12, 1926, in Rochester, NY, she grew up in East Rochester. Following High School, where she was voted most athletic, she pursued a communication career track, joining the Amateur Radio Club, and working for Radio station WSAY in Rochester. After obtaining a First Class Radio license, she received an FAA Commercial Operator license, and worked in Chicago, IL, as an air route traffic controller (ZAU) for American Airlines.
While at American Airlines, she met and married Tom Vallette, who also worked for American Airlines. They moved east to Danvers, Massachusetts, and started a family. Marian focused on being a stay-at-home mom, and they had children David, Marcia, and James. The family activities included extensive travel, organic gardening, and developing a passion for the outdoors. Marian achieved both the AMC 4000 foot club membership and hiked the Long Trail in Vermont. Marian was also an exercise enthusiast most of her life, and could be seen out walking in Danvers.
Marian had a deep sense of civic responsibility and was active in Maple Street Church in Danvers, as a Sunday School Teacher and an organist for early chapel services. While volunteering for Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, she gave tours, ran educational programs and organized and archived literature. Additionally, she was involved with scouts, both as a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout merit badge teacher. She was an active member of the Sierra Club.
Marian was always warm and welcoming, with a smile for all and will be missed by family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Tom Vallette. The family thanks Woodridge Nursing Home for their wonderful care. Memorial Services will be private.
