Margaret L. McManis Peatman died at CVMC Monday July 26th. Her sister and nieces were with her. She had been in ill health for five months after suffering a severe stroke and surgery on her broken ankle. She was born on May 7, 1918 in Morrisville, VT, the daughter of Willis H. and Gertrude L (Alexander) McManis. She attended schools in Montpelier, VT. Her parents are deceased. On July 10, 1943 she married Walter O. Peatman, in Moretown, VT. He predeceased her on November 9, 1977. She was predeceased by a special son, Walter O. Peatman, Jr.; her siblings; Cecil, Willard and Clarence (Buzzy) McManis; and her sister Glendene Higgins She is survived by a special daughter Jean Theobald of Orange; her sister Clarise (Mickey) Fresolo of Montpelier; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and nieces and nephews as numerous as the grains of sand extending to the beaches of Hawaii. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home on August 7, 2010 at 1:00 pm Because of the weak economy and cuts in Social Security Mom would rather you spent the money intended for her remembrance on something that you need – a treat from her. She always thought of others and did for them what she could. Here's a thought: "If ever there comes a day when we can't be together- Keep me in your heart – I'll stay there forever."
