Obituary

East Montpelier, VT Margaret Jean Ormsbee, 75, of Center Road in East Montpelier died unexpectantly at her home on Friday, November 15, 2013. She was born on January 4, 1938 in Montpelier, the daughter of Patrick and Julia (Henry) Flannery. She attended catholic schools and graduated from St. Michael's High School in 1956. On June 18, 1960 she married Richard Lea Ormsbee at Saint Augustine Church in Montpelier. He predeceased her on October, 26 1994. For many years Jean worked as a teller at the Vermont National Bank in Montpelier. She retired in 1990. She loved animals and over the years that she lived in East Montpelier she took in dozens of stray cats. Jean loved birds as well, humming birds in particular, and spent many years filling feeders for the residents at Woodridge Senior Center in Berlin. As a gifted artist Jean's favorite subjects were Vermont's beautiful landscapes and wildlife. Jean had that infectious Irish Charm and could tell stories like no other. Her favorite topics were about humorous events involving family members, close friends and pets. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Ormsbee and her husband Thomas Jordan of Jeffersonville, Linda Ormsbee of East Montpelier, VT; brother, John Flannery and his wife Sandra of East Montpelier; and three grandchildren, Makenzie, Justin and Delaney Wark. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Vermont Humane Society, P.O. Box 687, Montpelier, VT 05601 or to the Birds of Vermont Museum, www.birdsofvermont.org.
